Snuggly Blankie

After seeing THIS knit blanket on Make it and Love it, I decided baby sister needed a knit blanket. But I was a bit intimidated by the knit bias tape edge, and since my fabric was so plain I thought a little ruffle would be more fun.

Now I just need a baby to wrap up in this pretty little blankie!

Wendy Bird

I am not sure why, but these ribbons remind me of Peter Pan and Wendy... something about the stripes and colors make them feel vintage.

I love how long they are. I haven't decided though If I like them with our without little tails hanging out...

Both are pretty cute.

Ah ha! I just remembered what else they remind me of! Gossip girl! (not that I watch that show. Really I don't, I am not just saying that!)

Gifts for Rachael's baby...

I couldn't stop! I haven't made tiny sized things in so long!

A Sienna Dress, size 6-12 month. With a reversible zebra applique. (I have a tutorial on how to do a reversible applique tomorrow!)

A fluffy curly ribbon headband to match.

A paperdoll applique shirt, and a fluffy gold tutu to wear with it! (Every little girl needs AT LEAST one of these!)
I am hoping Rachael's baby girl gets her mommy's pretty dark hair, just like this little paperdoll!

I stitched around her twice to make sure she doesn't come off!

I used brown knit, and layers of goldish colored netting for the ruffles. I need one in my size.

And a few more hairbows to match the ensemble. Some felty clips for her hair...

And a white rosette headband, for before she has hair!

I am so excited for you Rachael. The world of girl is wonderful!

Ode to Disney.

I know I am not the only one sad to see this crafty, brilliant lady leave the blogging and cyberspace world. But I wanted to give her a shout out and a Thank YOU for all the wonderful creative ideas you shared with us all! I know it wasn't an easy decision and I am proud of you for following your heart!

Headbands

Just some Headbands...
These are the best on those days that I don't feel like doing my hair. ponytail + cute headband = hair done for the day!

wedding flowers

My friends little sis, Abbey, asked me to make some flowers for her beautiful wedding. this was a first for me! I had so much fun doing it, despite the hot glue burns on my fingers!

Bridal Accessories...

My mom works for a Bridal shop, and often she has brides with special requests for hair accessories, or embellishments on their dresses. I have been lucky enough to try make their dreams come true. Here is one of my recent favorites. I will be making a few of these for myself.

Felty Clips

I have been experimenting with felt and hair clips... I think it is my new favorite way to hair clippy!

The best part is the felt helps it stay put on headbands and in fine hair!

Shoe Refashion?

That's right, I refashioned my daughters shoes! I found these little ballet flats at WalMart for $8.00... but don't you think they are kinda boring?

So I made a little flower out of some black jersey knit and sewed it on! She LOVES them, and so do I!

To make the flower I cut a 1.5 inch strip of fabric, about 6 inches long. Then I used elastic thread in my bobbin and sewed up the middle, creating a nice little ruffle. I folded the ruffle down the middle where the seam was and then rolled it up to create a flower. I put a few stiches in the bottom to secure it and then attached it to the shoe with a short thick needle and some thread! (You could probably glue it on too)

one girl... one boy...

Two of my cousins are having babies... One Boy and One Girl! So a few Baby accessories are in order. I did a carseat blanket, a sling, a wipe wallet, and a few other little things for each of them.

I used the ever adorable Dick and Jane fabric for baby boy,
and some girly flowers and pink polka dots for baby girl.

Bag Lady

I have been working on a few bags lately...

my favorite one to make is Amy Butler's Swing Bag.
To mix things up, I used THIS tutorial to make a pocket on the front! Anyone got a great bag to make? I have some more fabric dedicated to bag making, and I would love some ideas!

Sugar and Spice...

I was able to make several things for my friend Amberly, she is expecting a baby girl any day now! Amberly picked out this cute fabric for me to make lots of girly goodies for her.

A Carseat Blanket... I have recently improved the design a bit. I love using ribbon to attach the blanket to the car seat, it made it so feminine.

I made several wipe wallets

A Ring a ding sling. I love these slings because they can be used so many different ways, and they can be used from newborn to toddler years.

A nursing cover, never mind the face I am making in this picture. I used boning, and D Rings to pull this one together.

Then I had a little fabric left, so I used it to make a tiny newborn sized pillowcase dress for the new baby. I used a tutorial from a room somewhere. And of course her 3 year old sister needed a matching skirt. (I have a matching problem when it comes to siblings, it is borderline OCD) This is modeled after Addilyn's patriotic skirt, modeled after Dana's mercado skirt!

Cutie Bitty Booties!

I finally got around to making a pair of these cute booties that Heather Bailey has on her website. Love them, and SO easy make, you could even make them without a sewing machine! Click HERE for a link to the Free Pattern!

Scripture Tote

I have needed a little bag for my scriptures for sometime now, and this afternoon I whipped up this little number. What about making one bag made me think I could conquer a tote? Because Bags are on of the EASIEST things to make that's why. And ya gotta love the 70's chair it is sitting on, awesome right?

Carseat Blanket

So I thought of this after having my first daughter in the winter

time... always throwing a blanket over her infant seat to keep out the cold air. It was hard to reach the handle and would blow off sometimes. I decided to make a blanket and attach two ribbons in the center of the blanket so I could just attach it to the car seat, it keep the sun off Eliza and has kept the cold off her too!

Here is how I did it... I just measured the length and width of her car seat, (which differ from brand to brand so I can't give you exact dimensions) and pulled out some fabric from my stash to make it.

You use two pieces of fabric that match the measurements you took of your car seat (example 22 inches by 33 inches), I like to use two different prints.

Then sew them right sides together leaving a space to turn it right side out, about 3 or 4 inches.

Turn it right side out and top stitch the edges.
Fold the blanket in half 'hamburger' style to find the center, mark it with a pin. You will need to figure out where to sew the ribbons by measuring the handle on your car seat. Once you attach the ribbons your done! Not too difficult right?!

The baby sling

I have seen these all over the place and decided to make my own, I made a few with scrap fabric before I decided to make my own, or make them for other people. They work best with a semi-heavy weight cotton that has a little bit of stretch to it, but cotton that doesn't have stretch will work too.
